Calling All Teens!
I'm a big American Idol fan and I assert right now that this year's winner will be Danny Gokey! (Though I have to admit I think Adam Lambert will give him a run for his money.) That said, I was also a big fan of last season's American Idol finalist Brooke White. I think she's not only talented, but genuine. So when I heard she was supporting a nationwide effort to educate teens about flu prevention, I wanted to help spread the word. (While I'm a big American Idol fan, I'm an even bigger germophobe!)
Brooke White has teamed up with an infectious disease specialist and Clorox to launch the I Don't Want to Miss campaign. The campaign is called that because so many teens miss out on important things when they're sick, like exams, homecoming dances and the big football game! The goal of the campaign is to educate teens and their parents that the CDC recently
expanded its flu vaccination guidelines to include all children six months through 18 years old. The PSA is needed because a national survey shows that only 16% of parents with teens are aware of this new recommendation.
So at the heart of the campaign is a PSA contest in which teens can submit a short 45-60 second video entry to IDontWantToMiss.com, sharing what they most don't want to miss out on and why that makes flu prevention important.
The winning contestant will win an acoustic concert from former American Idol finalist Brooke White at his/her school! The second place winner will receive a guitar autographed by Brooke White herself, and three runners-up will win autographed photos of Brooke.
So if you are a teen or have a teen, I highly recommend you enter this PSA contest because you don't want to miss an opportunity to get your own concert by Brooke White!
