Now I Feel Better About My Kids Going Online

My dad recently gave my daughters his old laptop. They're thrilled to have it, but have been begging me to give them internet access on it. Frankly, I've been putting that off because I know I need to put some security measures in place, so they're safe from adult material and online predators, but I don't know how. Well, I didn't until Mom Central asked if I'd like to review the McAfee Family Protection software. I jumped at the chance when I read that this software does the following:

- Prevents kids from sharing personal information
- Keeps tabs on the amount of time kids spend on the computer
- Creates Email blocks to prevent strangers from contacting kids
- Filters YouTube content
- Monitors kids' Instant Messages and social network activity
- Provides text message and email alerts if a kid tries to visit a bad site

My daughters and I are all pleased with the McAfee Family Protection software. They're happy because they can now instant message their friends and visit their favorite websites and I'm confident that they're safe from online predators and won't stumble upon inappropriate material.

If you have children who go online, I highly recommend you get this software. Not only because it provides a sense of confidence for parents, but also because McAfee is offering a $5 discount through August 31, 2009. Just use the promo code: 5familyprotection.

If you want more information about the software, feel free to ask McAfee’s Chief Cyber Security Mom, Tracy Mooney. She can be reached at cybermom@mcafee.com or at www.mcafee.com/cybermom.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of McAfee and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. In addition, McAfee sent me a blanket and care package to thank me for taking the time to participate.
